Long, Tired, Kiss

So what did you do this weekend? Please tell me that you kicked back and had an enjoyable long weekend! We don't do that here. EVER.
Late Friday and quite a bit on Saturday, we worked on the yard. The pool is still a lovely milky color. I guess that is better than swamp-much green but clear would be nice.
Yard work and a few late nights with friends and you get this picture of your son. Den said it looks like he is trying to air out his nuts. BEST PARENTS EVER!
Saturday night, we went over to Donna and Steve's house for a wonderful barbecue and tons of cocktails. Then a lovely walk home if the rain. Don't drink and drive-walk and be miserable.
Sunday, we headed to Milwaukee. We stayed at Potawatomi hotel and casino. It was a beautiful room with a to die for view but for $180, I doubt that we will ever stay during a holiday weekend again.
That is Alex and his new bride Michelle. Hard to believe but I have known Alex since he was 3 and I even babysat him. Yup, I'm old. They moved into the house right next door 2 months after we moved in. That kid is like my own.
Let's just say that a great time was had by all! I am so glad that we stayed the night. I have to say that this was the best wedding that I have ever been to. When it got dark out, you could see the Milwaukee skyline all lit up and it was beautiful. Mental note for Anna, perhaps?
This is Lauren, Alex's mom. She was so drunk and quite funny. We sat at her table. Yes, we felt a bit special.
And then things went downhill from there. LOL. That is John, Lauren's boyfriend. He seems like he is enjoying that a bit too much

And last but not least, that is Scott. He is the one that has Greek Easter. And the one that Den plays the guitar with. Den was quite loving. He's such a dork.
Monday, we hung out at the casino and grabbed a bite to eat. Gambled for a while. How I wish that I would say we won but all things considered, I think we were down $30 between us. I think that counts almost as a win up there. Then we headed home and I did piles of laundry. Quite the let down.
All I need is another long weekend to recover. How about you?

Makin' It And Savin' It Sunday

Ahhh, the minivan dilemma!!! I have to say that I completely love my van and I have since we bought Ol' Girl off of my MIL. She is a 06 Kia. As much as I love her, she is having some issues now. Her doors open and close at will. The radio changes stations when you turn the volume up. The lighter/charger no longer works so when you head out to retrieve the boy, you better have a full charge on your phone if you use it for GPS. That model was notorious for wiring problems. That said, we paid $3000 for her and we have gotten every penny out of her.
Pop over to the Penny Hoarder and read the article on minivan love. Do you have a van? Is it a love or hate relationship?

Our 2016 Mission And Our Favorite Person

Well, well, well what have I been up to? Everything and nothing.
I think we about have the yard together. That is a big one. A couple of bushes to trim and getting the pool clear. DJ and my besties daughter are already looking forward to having parties. Me, all I want is clear water.
I haven't posted about Christmas money yet this year!! I got an entire $5 from I don't know who. I must have sent for a liquor rebate and forgot about it or perhaps I was not sober. Anywho, I now have $5!!!

$5  Liquor Rebate
$5 total
That is pretty sad looking but I have to hit 25000 points before I can cash out for $250 on my credit card. I also have My Points that I can cash out and a few other things.
I also have more than half of my shopping done so that's a plus.
Pretty boring here and that's a good thing.
And our favorite person of the day is....................................................
NDChic'sCents!!!! Pop over and say hi to her maybe even give her a hug.
Have an awesome long weekend!!!! Do you have any amazing plans? Cocktails?

Fabulous Friday

How cute is this!?!?!?! Paint old bricks to look like books. I need to do this. Wait, you need to do this for me. You wouldn't mind paying to ship me old bricks, would you? Run over to The Glamorous Housewife and check out her post!
Where would you put your bricks? I don't think that I would put them on the steps though. Someone would get drunk and trip over them.

Expensive Cheat

Den and I were at a high end nursery looking for some hard to find plants when I spied this Amazing and Crazy expensive fairy garden. They sell everything your heart desires to make a perfect fairy garden. And trust me, your heart's desires are incredibly expensive. It was $8 for a flipping jar of sand. SAND!!!!!!
I'm thinking a trip to the beach and Goodwill add some creativity and you could get something almost as cute and a hell of a lot cheaper.
I'm terrible at plant names so I cheat and take pictures of the flowers and then look for them at cheaper places. The high end nursery wanted $15 for this plant, I got it for $5 at another store.
I need this!!! I try and love my plants but so many don't make it. It's the effort that counts, right?

Wicked Wednesday

"Sorry dad!" Or how about, "But it wasn't my fault!" Or even better, "I really don't see why you are getting mad at me over something that I had no control over!" Ummmm, you were supposed to have control over the car!!!!!!
Been there,

Glowing Pool

Doesn't this look so inviting? Makes you just want to dive right in. Nope.
This was a weekend of work, more yard work and pooling.
The garden is overgrown again. But the good news is we have most of the plants/figures/crap in place. We also have a bunch more projects ahead of us. I think Den is going to deck over the front cement stoop. It's a train wreck and it is really making the house look run down. And oh so many bushes need to be trimmed.
By Saturday, we had the pool water to the color of antifreeze. It's a process, people.
I went a bit ape-shit last year with the solar lights. I had them lining the deck but it was a bit overwhelming. And quite a few didn't make it through the winter. So Den suggested I throw them in a basket that way we could move them to where ever we needed light. An old basket, a plastic bag, an old Styrofoam cooler, and some pool sand and voila........................
a basket of glow! He has his moments.
His buddy Scott came over Saturday night to jam. It was a pretty tame night, neither one ended up smashed or standing in the herb garden.
Sunday, the pool water was getting closer to looking like water. We spent the rest of the day, pulling weeds, buying crap for more projects, staining the back deck and bench. We are exciting people!!!!
We like to have everything up and running in the yard by the end of Memorial day weekend but since we have a wedding to go to next weekend, we had to get a jump on everything.
What did you do this weekend? Does your water look like water?

Vegas Addiction!

I picked up a terrible addiction while in Vegas. No, not hookers and cocaine. I'm not saying that it can't happen, I'm just saying that it didn't happen this time. Wait, where was I? Oh yes, my addiction. My dairy allergy cuts back on so much yummy stuff in my life. I miss the days where I had a splash of milk in my coffee. Den ordered me an iced soy coffee while in Vegas. I, of course, made a face and then retracted the statement once I tasted it. It didn't taste fake at all. It was yummy. But at close to $5 a drink, I won't be getting them often. So I made a knock-off of sorts.
1 cup super strong coffee
1 Tablespoon sugar
1 cup of Soy milk
10ish ice cubes
Add the sugar to the hot coffee and then pour the coffee and sugar over the iced soy milk. Then thank me!
Do you make knock off drinks? Do you get hookers and cocaine?

Makin' It And Savin' It Sunday

Ahhhh, lazy Sundays, I like to find some time to poke around the internet and chill. Over at the Penny Hoarder, they have compiled a list of the best 26 Internet Freebies. Sending for free stuff is a much better use of time than say yard-work, right?
I only send for the things that I will need/use. How about you, do you send for everything, a few things, nothing?
Spill and chill,

Our 2016 Mission And Our Favorite Person

Well, good morning!!!! I guess this is the day I fess up to what I have done this week. Good, bad? We shall see.
I half-assed worked on the insurance. My lovely Aunt(Hi Aunt Ruby!!) told me about U.S.A.A. You have to be military or related. Since my father isn't alive, we can't sign up under him. But my FIL was in the military so I'm going to suggest it and then if he signs up, we can too.
I worked on our property taxes. We were the highest paying home in the subdivision. Bastards. I guess our money taste better than everyone else's. Sigh. I called and politely argued. Den told me to start with nice. Why does he think that he has to remind me of these things? Dumb ass, I know this already and have great manners! ;p Anywho, come to find out we never got a $6000 deduction the entire time that we lived here. Lucky us! We now get the deduction which will save us $700ish a year off the bill. We lost about $10k in the 21 years we have lived here. Ouch. I'm going to try and fight to get the bill lowered as well. But I can't do that until June. Nothing like stretching out a fight.
We have been working on the yard. For some reason, it seems to take longer and longer every year to get it in shape. We either have more things every year or we are getting older. Ha ha, I was at the bread store one day this week and they had a sign out that if you were 50+ you got a senior discount. I thought about how old that was and then realized I'm 6 years away. HOLY SHIT, BATMAN! I'm pushing 50. Oh well, I still have perky tits so I'm cool with it.
And my favorite person is $12 a day!!! She fights the good fight with money. I love how she tracks it and is so honest about it. And she is in MI and the weather is still cold. I feel her pain.
Have a great and frugal weekend! What are your plans? Planting? Yard work? Saving money?
In the dirt,

Fabulous Friday

I have so many good ideas to steal from people! Our hose is a big jumbled mess out the back door. I tried those expandable hoses and while they are lovely, they don't last long. So I have to go back to my trusty but bulky hose. Hmmmm, I'm sort of describing myself, trusty but bulky. Anywho, jump over to That's My Letter and check out how to improve your hose problem.
What are you doing with your hose this weekend?

Thick Bugs

Quick tip! Do you have old nail polish that is too thick? Don't throw it out just add a few drops of nail polish remover and voila its as good as new.
Did you spy the paper towels in the back? I'm a cleaner, what can I say!
I think I would need more than a roll of paper towels to clean this room. LOL! This is a bathroom decorated for Halloween! I love it. I think I'm going to have to collect rubber cockroaches. This would freak Anna out. I may need to do this when she comes for a visit no matter what time of year it is. Yeah, it looks like she will be staying in Denver for a while longer. She is happy about it and she is right we probably would have killed each other if we lived together again.
Bugged mom,

Crazy Driving

Ball State birdies!
So where did I leave off in the madness? I'm so fried at this point, you have no idea!
Ahh yes, I went to pick DJ up. I left on the Thursday the 5th. I went to the casino, I left $3 up. That was probably the only good thing that has happened as of late. Friday the 6th, DJ and I fought and loaded up the van, went to eat at my beloved Captain D's and headed home. Right as we hit Indianapolis, my SIL, Cindy called. She was frantic trying to find out what was going on with my MIL, Donna. Donna had bronchitis and then wasn't able to walk. Needless to say, it was a miserable and mad dash home. We made it home in decent time considering we hit rush hour traffic. We unloaded the van and then drove back to the hospital to see Donna. And to be honest, I thought we were going to end up burying her.
Anna, love her dearly, does not handle stress well. Den asked how she was doing and my answer was, "it's Anna." She sobbed uncontrollably and then booked a flight in. Yup, the next morning I had to drive back to Chicago and pick her up. My poor, poor van. Ol' Girl got a work out.
I drove us straight to the hospital from O'Hare. My MIL was overjoyed to see her. Anna was a bit concerned that the shock of her flying in would kill her. But good news, it didn't kill her in fact, she seemed to perk up a bit even. We all decided that if anything ever happens to Donna, we will just have to get a double wide coffin and throw Anna in there too. They both thought that it was a good plan. Anna said she doesn't want to ever carry on without her grandma. Cute but they are both crazy.
Anna stayed until Monday night and then I drove back to O'Hare in a horrific storm. So tired of driving!
The good news is my MIL is out of the hospital. She is weak but doing better. It's going to be a long road though.

I think that is the crazy highlight reel. I'm sure I have left a lot out. We have been working on the yard in spurts. The phlox are coming in nicely.
DJ has been a huge help lately. He's a good kid but we will see how I feel about him in about a month. ;p
I'm going to try and get to visit everyone soon. I missed everyone and I noticed that my patience were a bit short from not getting to write. I'll be back in the swing of things soon, I hope.
I really did miss you, my friends. And I thank you for all of the support and wonderful comments.

Blogger Break

I hope that all the love Moms out there are having a wonderful Mother's day. Things are over the top crazy here. I went to pick up DJ from Ball State and my MIL ended up in the hospital. It started as bronchitis and she went down hill from there. Pretty much everything bottomed out. She is stable and I hope on an upward swing. Anna flew in to see her. Yes, it was that bad. So I will be doing what I can to help and trying to get DJ's crap out of the way. You know its bad when I sling all of his college crap in the kitchen and leave it. Den asked what I wanted to do with all of it and I said, its not even a priority just leave it.
I'll get back into the swing of life in a few days, I hope.
Love to all of you and hug your mom or special lady in your life extra hard.

Fabulous Friday

We are cutting it close people! Hurry up and make me Mother's everywhere an awesome gift!!!! Pop over to Sparkles of Sunshine and find the perfect gift to make. I love my kids and all but these gifts are way better than colored noodles glued to a plate or string dried in Elmer's glue. I may point this out to them. Hmmmm, maybe I wasn't such a great Mom. Nah!
Happy weekend,
Sonya Ann

Greek Vegas

Ahhh, my favorite place in the world. It was a good trip but it went way to fast. Next time, I'll book the flights and not ask Den's opinion. He wanted to use the fewest amount of vacation days so we left super late on Tuesday and flew back super early Saturday morning. I'm tired!
We know how to work the system a bit now. You can catch a free shuttle from Silverton to the Strip. So we hung out there for a bit and then caught a cab to Freemont Street. It's way cheaper that way.

Den loves it there. I'm meh about it.
We did eat at the Heart Attack Grill. That was the highlight of that day. Well for Den.
Did you know if you don't eat all of your food, they paddle you? I have never had a meal where I had to have a plan of attack. I stopped drinking and I ordered a plain burger. And I ate slowly.
In our entire marriage, I have never seen Den act like that. He was begging me to get spanked. UMMM, NO! Let her hit you!

This guy thought this was hilarious and was all for it.

The "nurse" loved her job and would take two running leaps before she hit them. He wasn't that enthused when the spanking was administered.
I saw a table of three massive men. They were having a blast until they saw her paddle someone. I told them to order less than what they thought they could eat. The biggest one looked at me and said, "Do you think I could order a kids meal?"
Den didn't get paddled, I would have suggested using an oar.
He did take pictures of the pisser though. Piss on Trump or..................

Hillary. It was a fun place to eat but be prepared to pay out the ass. It was close to $100 for two burgers, drinks and a tee-shirt.
I wonder if Den could have gotten these girls to spank him. He seems awful happy, doesn't he?
Thursday, we went to South Point. The buffet is to die for and no one is hitting you if you don't finish your food. We also lost there. Wait, we lost everywhere. Sigh.

Friday, Den realized that he had a $40 ticket from South Point and we ended up going back again. Never mind, that it was a $40 cab ride to get there. He promised that we would win. Liar!
Friday night, we at at Wu Hu noodle at Silverton. So so so so good!!!!
We ended up winning nothing but it was a fun trip filled with yummy and a bit scary food.
Saturday super early, we headed back. It was cold and uneventful.
Den tried to cheer me up on Sunday cuz I was on a bit of a vacation downer. I won $4 but it still wasn't as fun as Vegas. LOL
Later, Den headed over to the neighbor's for Greek Easter. I stayed home since it was raining and cold. I should have went. A drunk guy started a fight with Den. Den was sober and stood up. God, do I wish I had seen it. In our entire marriage, he has only gotten that mad once before. Needless to say, the guy was a big mouth and not much more. Den said it took 3 guys to hold him back. The  big mouth ran and hid around the other side of a wall. It's a crazy life I lead.
I'm not going to be around much this week either. I have to go on Thursday and get DJ. Needless, to say I am already fighting with him. I asked a month ago when finals were and never got a response. I needed to drive out Friday and come back Saturday. But there were no hotels because it was last minute. Now, I have to drive out Thursday and wait the next day to load him after finals and drive back in Friday traffic. Jack Ass.
Did I miss much in your life? Did you get spanked? Did you almost get into a fight on Greek Easter? Is your son an ass?
No paddle,
Sonya Ann
