Cool Maters

This is a picture of the inside of our nasty cooler. I was at the point where I wanted to pitch it. I remember Anna standing on it when she was about 2(she's 24 now). It's old, smelly and ever so dirty. I scrubbed, sprayed, and cussed.
Then I grabbed the magic eraser and about 45 seconds later, it was like night and day. I sprayed it out with vinegar and I no longer felt the urge to buy a new cooler. PHEW, we can't have me buying things!
And I've got the beginnings of tomatoes. Yeah, I'm rocking' the frugal and gardening thing.
My time,

Wicked Wednesday

So who put their swim suit on and said, what the hell have I done to myself? I've been saying that a lot.
I've been trying to cut back and swim laps but I guess a day or so of effort doesn't count.
Meal pre-planning in the summer is so hard with DJ home. Wait, can I blame him for being fat?

Bare Car

This is not me. And it is not my fish.
This was a boring weekend. Friday, I ran errands and enjoyed my last night without Den. Errrrr, I mean, I longed for my loving husbands. Yeah, that's the ticket.
That's a picture of Den's Dad with a slimy fish. He said they had a blast and his dad booked the cabin for 2 weeks next year. I bet Den saves most of his vacation time for that trip.
My friend Donna had her parents in from England for the past few weeks. So her husband, Steve, and her dad Gerald went up to the cabin on Wednesday. Den's mom went the beginning of the week and left before Steve and Gerald got there. I'm not going to say that the boys drank. I will say that it seemed there was quite a bit of sleeping it off.
My very tired and cranky husband got home late afternoon on Saturday. He did remember to pick up the police report so I can start trying to sort that mess. Not yay.
He brought back a messy van too. But my only consolation is he is now driving it since his car we aren't real sure is road worthy. You hit 40 in that sucker and its quite shaky. My brain says, its a bit fucked up.
I've been working on the yard diligently. I started doing mounds of stinky laundry after he got home and then went back to the yard. I think he felt bad and decided to "help" me.
As he was trimming the front bush, I mentioned how it was growing out and overtaking the sidewalk. So he lopped off a hunk right in front and then told me this is how the entire thing will look. Believe it or not, I held my tongue and went and text my bestie. She said her hubs had done the same thing a week earlier and said her shrub looked like the ass-end of a dog.
I now have a hunk of bush to camouflage before the 4th of July party. Do you think Pinterest has anything? I may shove a plant in it. LOL
Sunday, guess what I did? Yup more yard work and worked on the pool. I figure if I plug along at it every day, I won't be overwhelmed by the 4th.
Did you do laundry this weekend? Did you take out your aggression on a bush?

Soapy Boobs

Why didn't I think of this earlier? Bath and Body Works sends out free coupons for a travel sized shower gel/lotion every so often. I normally get the lotion but last time I snagged the shower gel. A small squirt of the gel and some water into an old foaming soap container and VOILA, awesome smelling and free foaming hand soap. I often wonder what else I am missing/forgetting. Probably a lot.
I forgot to tell you about this awesome find my SIL got when we went garage saling! See I do forget a lot.
We are pretty sure that this is from the 70's and it was hand-made. She is going to cut it short. I think it looks amazing on her and can't wait to see what she does with it.
Each dress was $2! She said the only problem is the dresses make her look like she has torpedo boobs. Dolly Pardon would be so proud.
She is going to cut this one shorter too. And perhaps get a better bra.
We haven't done a lot of garage saling this year but we did score the washer and dryer and these two dresses.
Have you been garage saling? Do you have torpedo boobs?
No torpedoes,

Makin' It And Savin' It Sunday

I think this has to be my most favorite post on Penny Hoarder yet. Run over there and read about the Money-Saving challenge. I talk about and read everything that I can about saving money but sometimes, it is much easier to talk about it then it is to do something. Having friends that you had to answer to would definitely help.
Do you talk to your friends about money? Do you think that a money challenge would help you or would it stress you out?
Money lover,

Our 2016 Mission and Our Favorite Person!!!

Well, here we are again. How about we just talk about what you did this week? Yes, that would be the best thing that we can do. ;p
I'm back in the swing of the yard and all of the work. I guess this is a good thing. I just have to pluck away at it daily. Or should it be pull weeds daily?
The pool is finally clear! This is a major accomplishment. Phew! It looks like it will be good to go on the 4th of July. Oh and speaking of the 4th, guess who decided to throw a bash. Yeah, that would be me. One thing led to another and we have 50+ people coming. Oh well, at least I will have something to write about. It wasn't going to be a big party but then I remember how Donna hasn't been able to have a family get together on her side for a few years. She can't handle the work that it takes t get everyone together. So I said, what the hell invite them all. And then it wasn't fair to invite Donna's side and not my Father in law's side. Did I ever tell you that they are each 1 of 6? Oh and I said bring all the cousins too. Yup, I'm an idiot. Oh and all of the neighbors and some friends of friends sort of thing. Hey, if you are in Antioch, you are invited too. LOL
I spent a lot of time at doctors this week. I mostly have a clean bill of health and I went in for my first booby smashing. Dude, no bueno.
I still have not started working on getting Den's car fixed. Who knew they wouldn't call us?? Yeah, show of hands on this one. We all knew!!!!
I'm going to work on a new budget this weekend. I have to add the cost of some meds. Ahhhhh, the joys of aging. I'm accepting that we are always going to be broke. Sigh.
Den was gone this week fishing. I have to say life is a bit easier without him around. Sad but so true. DJ and I ate out and I just didn't think about food much. Cooking is a much bigger stressor than I knew. I should just stop cooking, right?
This week's favorite person is a place. ;p Well, its Lorraine's Etsy shop. I am so proud and impressed by her. She took a job lose and turned it into something profitable. So run over to her shop and well, shop!!!!
I hope you are having a great weekend!!
Kicking back,
Sonya Ann

Fabulous Friday!!!!

I miss Anna. Anna loved to do crafts with me. Maybe that is why I always post about my Pinterest finds, I'm longing for some Anna time. And then she gets here and we start fighting and she invites everyone she has ever met over to drink our beer and eat all the food in the house. Maybe I should just craft alone. LOL. No, I do miss her.
Anywho, This adorable Fairy lantern is from Plaid Pallette. They use tea lights in the lanterns but I'm thinking solar lights. So many crafts, so little time with Anna..
Happy weekend,
Sonya Ann

Flip A Driveway

I know that crazy crap happens to all of us but I really do feel like I get more than my share. Feel free to argue this with me and I will probably agree that some of you have more screwed up stories than I do. But have you almost totaled your van in your own driveway?
It was a normal day. I had some errands to run. I got in my trusty van, cranked the A/C and the radio and started to back up. We have a two car garage behind the house and the driveway is slightly crooked and is one lane when you get even with the side of the house. In order, to back out straight, you have to watch the driver's mirror. I have some friends that won't pull in our drive passed the house.
So I'm nice and cool, the radio is playin' my song and I'm watching my mirror as I start backing up. Done this thousands of times, mind you. What I didn't see was a woman going mach 5 and whipping into my drive to pull a U-turn. Or flip a bitch as we sometimes call it.
My neighbor's massive pine trees blocked her view of me. It was so damned close, inches of hitting each other. I was not speeding. Hard to believe but I normally don't gun it in the driveway. She, on the other hand,  was going way too fast for my driveway.
I can't even get out of the driveway without a problem. So my question is, can I write someone a speeding ticket in my driveway? I would be rich!
Spill what's your craziest driveway story?

Wicked Wednesday

God bless all the teenagers and the 20 year old boys that still think its ok to leave stuff til the last minute. Or better yet, do a half-assed job stomping cans and then thinking that I won't notice. Or even better, do nothing!
I think someone is sneaking into the house and eating all of the food at night. I may need to install cameras.
I'm not even sure we have enough cereal left to make a meal!
Ok follow me here- if it is science that means its educational. If it is educational then I am getting smarter. So if I am smarter, I should figure it out and just leave. Did I miss anything? Please, check my math.
Maybe, I should just run away to the liquor store? Best plan yet!!!
Are you at the liquor store?

When It Rains, It Pools

This was a typical crazy weekend. Well, by our standards. Oh wait, by our standards its normal by everyone else's it's shit.
Den worked overtime all of last week. He's salary so no extra cash. Boo. He was dead tired by the time he got home on Friday afternoon. He works half days on Fridays. Anywho, since he was leaving for a fishing trip, he had to get a ton of chores done. One of which was my brakes. He finally found out what was wrong with it. It was a bad rotor.
How funny is that picture, it looks like a bucket is holding the van up.
We also got to work on the pool. It's been open a month and still not clear. 200 pounds of new sand in the filter and it was so much better. Wish we had done that first and saved our money.
He then went about farting around with his fishing stuff. He was so happy. And I was glad that he was going. He will be with his mom and dad the beginning of the week. Wednesday his mom is heading home and a couple of their friends are heading up for the rest of the week.
We went to bed drained Friday night.

Saturday, Den made it almost one hour from home and then was rear-ended. Poor guy. And the woman in the Mercedes SUV that hit him was miffed that they were delayed going to their lake house. Yeah, its a good  there.
And in the middle of the call with Den, my doctor called with my blood results. I took the call only to have the doctor tell me my white blood cell count is good and then go on to say, I don't want to ruin your weekend but your thyroid is a not right and you could go into a coma. HA! Comas don't scare me. Not with the life that I have. I thanked him and told him, he didn't ruin my weekend. LOL but I had to go because Den had been in a car accident. He was really worried, I was like, this is a normal day for us.
Good thing, he fixed the van!!!! DJ and I drove up and we swapped the van and car out. It took a crow bar and a huge amount of effort for Den to get his gear out.
The bad news is Den never took down ANY information from the woman that hit him. If I do slip into a coma, someone please look after him. He won't make it! Seriously, do a wellness check on him.
How do you get into an accident and take down no information!?!?!? The thing is this is the second time he has done this to me!?!?!?!? He is going to get the police report on his way back from his fishing trip. Until then I drive a smashed car that I can't drive in the rain because the trunk is open.
On the way home, I told DJ I was scared to drive it fast because I didn't know if it was safe or not. He said it was stable but it was the noxious gasses that were filling the cabin is what I should be concerned with. Smart ass.

Den made it to the cabin and is now a happy man. Poor thing needs a vacation.
On Sunday, word had gotten out that the pool was clear(well sort of). And I threw a party.
What happens when Den is gone and I'm left in charge of the food? I order some pizzas, buy a tray of cookies and grab a bag of chips out of the cabinet.
It was an absolute blast. I needed some down time. The good news is I have leftover pizza and I'm not going to cook for a while.
How was your weekend? Did you get into a car accident? Did you go into a coma?

Do This NOW!!!!!!

How awesome is this!?!?!? 3 free pizzas!!!!  Yup, all free. Seriously, you need to do this today. I normally don't post about giveaways and freebies unless they change my life. ;p
T-Mobile has a giveaway every Tuesday. It's called T-Mobile Tuesdays. So far we have gotten free pizzas and Den got a 1 free T-Mobile stock. Here is the link, for the giveaways. Everything that I have read says that you don't have to be a customer. So check it out and let me know. Also, you can download the App to your smartphone. Just go to the App store and search for T-Mobile Tuesdays.
The draw back is it has to be used on that Tuesday or it disappears.  I'm also wondering if they are as generous with non-customers. Download the App today and then wait for Tuesday!!!!
Do you know of any great giveaways? Freebies?
Really happy,
Sonya Ann

Our 2016 Mission And Our Favorite Person!!!

Well, well, well, here we are. It's Saturday again. Yay! Who's hungover? LOL
This was the week of cancellations for me. I made a doctors appointment and 2 Orkin appointments only to have all cancelled. The Orkin appointment, I sat for hours waiting for them and they never called or showed up. Whatever. I rescheduled them so they will have plenty of opportunities to cancel. Ever hit  a patch in your life where it seems everything you do just can't go smoothly. Don't even ask about the pool! It's been a month and it is still cloudy. Fucking yay man.
We overspent on everything. EVERYTHING! Oh well, between all the dentist appointments, doctor appointments and the pool, it was bound to happen. And I forgot about the brakes on my van. Yuck.
The good news is I looked over mortgage and we have about 7ish years left. We took out a 30 year loan(so the payments were low in case Den ever lost his job) but we paid a higher payment(roughly the payment if we had taken out a 15 loan) plus we pay every other week. The bad thing is we will have been here 30 years by the time we get it paid off. We refinanced a couple times. Dumb us.
So to sum up the week, lots of redos. Hopefully, everything will smooth out and we can stop spending money and start checking things off the to do list. Or is it called the redo list? I have the feeling though that it is about to get worse. I have more appointments scheduled. Being a girl sucks.
And my favorite person for the day is Vintage Vixen. She is amazing. I could spend hours going through her blog. Hmmmmmm, maybe I should go through her blog when I'm waiting for the Orkin man or when I'm waiting to get my blood drawn or when I'm waiting to get my tits smashed between two plates.
Does the universe fuck with you? Do you tit smash?

Poor Hunter

How awesome is this shirt!!! I have been trying to add some color to my wardrobe. My taste in clothes tends toward Johnny Cash colors. Hey, black is slimming. And when I am feeling daring, I will add in a little pop of gray or brown. I stick with what I know.
Yeah, how crazy is that! $82!!!!!!! Who has that kind of money?

$5.99 is a much better price. But this deal still doesn't beat the washer and dryer deal I got. I told Den the only way to beat that deal is to get a car or house for 90% off. I'll be on the lookout though. ;p
This is one of my fears. Hmmmmm, I think I need to clean out my dresser and closet.
Bargain hunter,

Things happen, right?
Not easy?

Goodwill Arch

Ahhh, my arch enemy! The pool water looks blue but wouldn't it be nice if I could see the bottom. I spent a lot of time outside farting around with it this weekend. I have never had this much trouble before getting it clear.
And this is Den's arch enemy, the brakes! Before he had to work on DJ's brakes and now it is my van that won't cooperate. When I stop slowly, it sounds like the brakes are growling. It's really not a good noise . He has determined that it is the front passenger's brakes doing it. Mind you, that was the last wheel he checked. Poor guy. Since he replaced everything not that long ago, it should be fine, right? He's done everything that he can think of to fix it, the last step is to buy new rotors and pads and start over.
I am DJ's arch enemy. I keep finding things for him to mow, trim, paint, move or cut back. He said this is his last summer home. I'm starting to wonder if I had anything to do with it.
Saturday night, I went all out and made Sloppy Joe's for dinner. In my entire adult life, I have never made these! How did something so easy get by me? Den loved them. DJ was born Jewish and doesn't eat hamburger or pork. When he was very small, I had to buy him Kosher food otherwise he wouldn't eat it. Mind you, no one in our family is Jewish. So I have no idea where this came from. He also would ask Santa when he was real small if he could be Jewish for Christmas. Santa would look at me and I would nodded yes and then he would tell DJ he would be Jewish. He was such an odd bean.
Sunday, I made a run to Goodwill and messed around with the pool more. Seems there is a theme around here.
Den did more work around the house/garage/vehicles. Then he barbecued. He was awful helpful this weekend. Perhaps that has something to do with the fact that he is going away on a fishing trip this Saturday and doesn't want me to bitch. ;p
How was your weekend? Did you do yard work? Did you bitch?

An Insulting Tip

Oftentimes, I think that I shouldn't have been allowed to raise children. My poor kids are so messed up. So so messed up.
DJ and I were in the kitchen talking and Den had fallen asleep on the couch one night. Like the good wife that I am, I left him. Well cuz, that means I get the bed to myself. He likes it obviously.
Anywho, DJ and I hear Den rolling around downstairs moaning slightly. He pops up to the standing position. He gets terrible leg cramps sometimes at night and was trying to stretch them out.
DJ looks at him and says, "Oh look, he shit himself awake again."
Terrible child.
The good new is a tablespoon of regular mustard will stop leg cramps pretty quickly. I would also take an antacids just in case.
Do you have home remedies that work? Did you ruin your kids?
No cramps,

Makin' It And Savin' It Sunday

Have you ever sold anything from the free box at a garage sale? Have you ever bought something from a garage sale and sold it for a profit? Over at the Penny Hoarder, there is a new article about how a woman turned some free clothes from Craig's list into $545.
I think what would happen with me if I tried this is I would have piles of junk in the garage. That said I have bought a bunch of Blue Rays and sold them at the pawn shop and Den still recycles brass. Does this count?
Spill, is this a no or a go?
Still Broke,
Sonya Ann
