Makin' It And Savin' It Sunday

Who else scores free flights? I happily raise my hand on that one!!! Jump or fly over to the Penny Hoarder and read about scoring free flights!!
We also use our Bank of America card to earn points for cash. I'm so close to cashing it in for Christmas money. I really need to get my act in gear and score some free money or flights or cocktails.
How about you, free cash or flights? Or do you despise credit cards all together?
Drunk flyer,
Sonya Ann
PS-Everyone needs to visit Sluggy and enter her giveaway!!!! Really go there!

I hate credit cards but I willingly and joyfully play their little game. Maybe I should say it's not c/cs I hate but debt!lolz
I don't do debt and I am fortunate to have gotten free of that crap and have saved up enough $ that we never have to worry about debt again. It's a great place to be and I highly recommend it. ;-)

Even though I hate putting stuff on the c/cs, even if I do pay them off every year I am thinking about going to a system where I put every bill on the c/c and just pay that one bill every month instead of 12 different bills. Since I don't carry a balance ever, why not get all those points to cash in for gift cards?
Yep, I think I am going to try it.....

Mine cap at a certain max but we pay off balance in full as well and use cash back. I won't pay a fee for credit card use either.

Hubby and I each have a different cc to use, mine is airmiles mastercard and his is royal bank avion. His is the most flexible so we put all the big expenses through (plus he has an avion one for the company too). Mine I can collect more places but it takes longer to add up (except when you enter a contest and win 5000 and then they feel bad your trip got delayed so they give your hubby an extra 5000 too - best contest ever, thankyou Goodyear). We don't have any extra credit cards than needed as all those fees add up too. Free flights sounds like a great deal but I will give you an example. We have enough avion points for one free ticket to Europe. I could have used that for Greece. Except the free ticket would have been $1600 of which taxes and fuel surcharges were $900. So we would have only had to pay $700. So I have to use a whole year worth of business and personal points to pay $700. Instead I paid for our flights to greece $935 including tax each. The points will be used on much shorter flights where there is no fuel surcharge and taxes are only $90 a ticket. Those same points will pay for 4-5 tickets for the kids to come see us or us to go to Alberta instead. If the points covered more of the air/fuel tax it might be different. The other thing you have to be very careful on is One World which is KLM, their miles expire the end of December 1.5 years after you fly unless you take another flight. It seems our KLM flights are always 2 years apart so I ended up donated all of them last year. Other airline programs you can keep your miles alive by buying something that will generate a mile but not that one. I do have a spread sheet. Nothing is worse than having miles expire that you were hoping to use one day.

Because our kids all live far enough away that we fly to see them, we use our credit cards exclusively for purchases. It is easier to pay one bill monthly than to have to pay several. The miles rack up quickly plus we now only use one airline so our points don't get "lost"

So flying.... well like to avoid it if I can.... yet supposed to fly at the end of this month to Cancun.... yikes!

Sigh. We don't get flights. Or cash. I use the card as little as possible and pay it off in full each month.

I entered Sluggy's giveaway and even said in my comment that you sent me. Sluggy probably won't ever forgive you. I get cash back on one of my credit cards, which I always end up spending on Amazon. The other credit card has a super low interest rate. I get cash back on it once a year. That money pays bills. I'd like to fly, but I can do that at home with Willy Dunne Wooters. Whoopee!
